Tools:
- Brother Innovis NV800e embroidery machine
- Scissors, embroidery scissors
- Inkscape software
Materials:
- Tea Towel
- Cloth napkin (for the patch)
- tear away stabilizer
- various colors of embroidery thread
- Iron on adhesive double-sided
Another project for my sister’s birthday. I took some premade designs added a name, removed the moon, and for the patch I added a border. I used Inkscape with the Inkstitch plugin to modify the designs. For the patch, I cut double-sided adhesive with protective heat-resistant paper on each side. I pulled the paper off one side and ironed it onto the patch. I left the paper on the back side intact so that it could be removed and ironed onto any desired surface.
Project Retrospective:
If I were to do this again, I would have used a different stabilizer. The one in my inventory was difficult to tear even though it was supposed to be tear-away.
Larger design on the patch might have looked more pleasing but would have been less flexible for use. The size I chose would be equally suited for a jacket, a towel, or a bag.
